My Childlike DesireI whine a little, asking – without a word

the blanket of your body…
through the long, unfailing nighttime
I ask for a lullaby…the constant thrum of your heart
I depend on it – the ephemeral, the dreamlike
the transparent rising of your chest beneath me
it is no good for me, really…but my childlike desire
to consume that which my body rejects
that softness, that temporary warmth
the care which I will soon enough forget…
is the only thing that can govern what I am.

I adore it. My favorite is the last line. "life in trust" that lines really rings true with me. Life in trust on the back of a bike. <3 so glad you wrote this

Oh, and thanks. The last line is my favorite too ... what a feeling of freedom ... I used to search that feeling out with a little too much carelessness I recognize now, but boy was it worth it. :)
